THE RIGHT ARM IN ACTION

MEET Ministry ‘Class 2009’ school of Gospel Medical Missionaries commenced on the 1st of March 2009. Eleven individuals from diverse backgrounds and locations arrived at MEET Ministry desiring training. They had traveled from five of the earth’s seven continents, showing that Gospel Medical Missionaries are needed to “go… and teach all nations.” Matt. 28:19.

The subsequent four months were intense; each student was challenged and positively motivated - mentally, physically and spiritually. Instruction was given in the areas of God’s Plan (i.e. the 8 health laws), nutrition, food preparation, hydrotherapy/massage, natural remedies, anatomy and physiology, and Bible evangelism. In addition, hands on instruction was received at the Health Center.

The lessons from the classroom were applied in Clanton, Alabama, where the students held a community-based health outreach program: Health, Hope and Healing (June 1-7). The team worked under the direction and leadership of Unlimited Power Ministries International (UPMI 2), a sister ministry of MEET MINISTRY. The work consisted of two parts.

Week 1 (May 24-31) was spent in the community: knocking on doors, visiting area churches, and setting up a station at the local Wal-mart for free blood pressure and glucose checks. This was in effort to bring awareness of the upcoming Health, Hope and Healing seminar. In addition, personal invitations were extended to the people of Clanton and the surrounding towns, who also were receiving the 6,000 invitations in their mail box. This was the preparation stage.

THE PREPARATION : Some team members had never participated in an outreach effort of such magnitude. Naturally, some became apprehensive, but the Word of the Lord reminded them that in Christ, when they are weak then they are strong (2 Cor. 12:10). These are some of their experiences:

“This was my first experience in outreach. I was concerned whether I would be able to reach other people with my Indonesian-English accent and if people would understand me. But Matthew 10:19 said, ‘But when they deliver you up, take no thought how or what ye shall speak: For it shall be given you in that same hour what ye shall speak.’ God gave me the words to speak and reach people. The most important thing is the willingness of our hearts to help people and obey God; wherever God wants us to go … I will never forget this experience… People need help. They are crying out for help. They need love that they will only find in God.”
-Erika Murad – Indonesia

“If I had not gone to Verbena-Clanton and gone door to door, I would have never realized the great work that needs to be done. Everyday was busy, there was no time for idleness and our class was always on the go… I saw miracles with the weather, rain stopped when we went out, the hot sun was negated by a providential breeze, there were many vicious dogs but they grew calm as we drew close. Rain could not wet us! Dogs could not bite us! And the sun could not burn us! Because we were on our Father’s business!”
-Anita Moses – Dominica

“We approached a home where a woman was in a wheel chair. We introduced ourselves and why we were there. Then she said, ‘God answers prayer! I really need help and have been praying for God to make a way.’ She was facing many health challenges and was most receptive. She was on 17 medications and her mobility was greatly reduced. We picked her up and returned her home every night for the meetings. She gave God the glory at the end of each meeting and resolved to make changes. During her consultation she saw hope and declared she wanted to be well. The Better Living Center has continued assisting her with changes in meals and help at home… My trust in God has been strengthened!”
-Wendy L. Sinclair – Guyana/Canada

Week 2 (June 1-7) was the outreach program: Health, Hope and Healing. The horses had been prepared for battle but victory belongs to the Lord. Prov. 21:31. Dr. T. Jackson and wife, Dr. L. Jackson, presented God’s Plan for His people and the Holy Spirit moved the hearts of those in attendance. The numbers grew with each passing day. To God be the glory!

THE PRESENTATION: Every evening, two students demonstrated a natural remedy. This was well received by the crowd of attendees. Many made immediate lifestyle changes and volunteered testimonies of how the Lord was working in their lives during that very week. God’s healing hand was in Clanton.

“There is no experience, except my baptism, in my entire life that could match this experience. I thank God for allowing me to be a part of it. Forward ever; backward never.”
-Irene Patrick - Jamaica/USA

“Life changing experience! Many of the people did not want us to leave and my heart was knit with them.”
-Fleur Jennings – New Zealand

“We met a woman who weighed 300lbs whose family was not supportive and was now depressed. Her son is in jail and she does not know where he is. In tears she told her story but her greatest desire was to be well. She touched my heart. I saw how God moved upon every heart that came to the meetings. It was a blessing.”
-Yanira Gonzalez – El Salvador/USA

“The trip to Verbena-Clanton was a great blessing; we experienced firsthand the potential to reach individuals with the medical missionary work… The people were enthusiastic about the natural remedies and health lectures. Most people do not realize the link between health and the gospel. We have much to do in our homes, churches and communities in presenting the complete gospel.”
-Verna J. Bowen-Barbados/USA

“God showed me that doing Gospel Medical Missionary Work is how He is going to save me from myself... Lord, as long as You are with me I’ll be happy whatever You will have me do.”
-Prisma Flores – Mexico/USA

“Clanton: Health, Hope and Healing - There was no place like that place anywhere near that place; so that had to be The Place! The Lord supplied sufficient grace to finish that race at a blessed pace to get to that place where we could see His face. What can I say; I am too blessed to be stressed, depressed or suppressed. Since gospel medical missionary work was good enough for Jesus; it’s good enough for me.”
-Farai Manjengwa – New Zealand/Zimbabwe Gospel Medical Missionary<br>Training School

Clanton was a tool God used to turn the ‘Class 2009’s’ students into teachers, health educators into Gospel Medical Missionaries and doubting Thomases into believers. Such an experience made all the struggles, long nights, harsh weather, vicious dogs, and unfriendly doors seem worthwhile. What a blessing to be able to make a difference in one person’s life and thus work with heavenly agencies to save a soul. Truly friends, heaven is cheap enough.

The harvest truly is great, but the labourers are few: pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he would send forth labourers into his harvest.

Where are you?
